Old but Gold HINDI Cinema

While watching an old movie with my mumma, I noticed that the songs featured in the movie had depth in their lyrics. And, the words used were like the words I would find in a book for GRE in Hindi. These words aren’t used so frequently in our Hindi speaking world. Somehow Hindi has lost its charm along the way and I want to blame bollywood for it but something stops me from doing that. Maybe, it is not all bollywood. Maybe, bollywood changed its course due to public demand. Maybe, Hindi lost its importance along the way in school life for kids. I would not deny my last sentence because I know for fact it’s true. I wanted to write a reply to the letter from my grandpa in Hindi because he wrote his letter in Hindi and I couldn’t. I thought I might forget some matras or misspell words. So, I ended up writing my letter in English because I had more practice in English than in Hindi.

Coming back to the depth in Hindi songs which are terribly missing. They might be fun to hear and enjoy for awhile but in the end they are nothing in comparison to the old Hindi songs. Those songs would touch your heart and you would never forget about them. Songs like “Ek ladki bheegi bhagi si” or even the tacky song like “Sar ka liyo khatiya jaada lagey” are still stuck in my mind and I still love listening to them. In comparison to “munni badnaam” or “Sheila ki jawani” which are baseless, meaningless and I would name them as “Ek raat ki chandni type songs”. But, songs by pop artists like "Euphoria" have depth and you love listening to them again and again.  In yesteryears, lyricist would write the song on the situation first and then, the music director will add music to it. Nowadays, it’s vice versa as the music director comes up with a catchy tune and then the song is written to fit the beats.  I would say amazing effort by lyricists.  But, sometimes bollywood comes up with songs which will remind you of those golden years and in a way keep up with that image.  I wonder how long will Kishore Kumar songs will go on entertaining the youth of this country. Will my kids be able to love his songs the way I do?

Misleading Term

“Tomboy: Tomboys tend to hang out and get along with boys rather than fellow girls. Tomboys love to hang out with guys. A stereotypical tomboy wears no makeup or jewelry, wears jeans, baseball caps, has scraggly hair, etc. this is not necessarily true, as many tomboys wear girl stuff too. They just don’t care about what other girls or people think of them. A tomboy who wears girl stuff usual does not cooperate with "normal" girl activities most of the time.”

Now what is missing in this definition is that all girls are boys at heart but they chose not to bring that part out very often. Because, of insecurities or they are concerned about what other girls might say and sometimes their mom preps them to be like an ultimate girl would be, and much more.

But, some boys are just hypocrites they want their girl to act like an ultimate girl and also think like a guy. Now, DUDE! You are expecting too much. First of all decide what you want in a girl. Do you want her to be your best buddy? Do you want her to be like your girly girlfriend who would crib about a broken nail? Because, it is freaking hard to find a girl who would manage both the identities together. I know one that is Aishwarya Rai. Now, isn’t she one of a kind. LOL! She is a tomboy at heart and she hangs out with guys more than girls but still she was crowned with the Miss World pageant.
